Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our services
BLOOD TESTS
Q: What types of private blood tests do you offer?
A: We offer a range of private blood tests, including standard panels such as full blood count, thyroid function (TSH), liver & kidney function, lipid profile, vitamin D, iron studies, hormone levels, and more. Custom test packages are also available on request.
Q: Who is eligible to book a private blood test?
A: Our private blood tests are open to all adult clients (18+). A GP referral is not required.
Q: Do I need to prepare before my blood test?
A: Some tests require fasting - usually nothing to eat or drink (except water) for 8-12 hours prior. If you’re unsure, we will guide you when booking. Certain medications may also affect results; we'll advise you beforehand.
Q: How do I book an appointment?
A: Bookings can be made via the link on our website. Appointments fill quickly, so booking in advance is advised.
Q: What happens during the appointment?
A: A trained professional will draw your blood, typically from the inside of your elbow. The procedure usually takes under 10 minutes. After the draw, a plaster or dressing is applied and you may rest for a few moments. Bruising is rare and typically resolves in a few days.
Q: When and how will I receive my results?
A: Results are typically issued within a few days. We will send them via a secure email link or print and deliver them, based on your preference. Follow-up interpretations or recommendations can be provided, if needed.
Q: What if I feel dizzy or uneasy during or after the test?
A: Inform the phlebotomist immediately. We’ll support you, ensure safety, and offer time to recover if you feel faint.
SPORTS INJURY & MASSAGE SERVICES
Q: What treatments do you offer besides blood tests?
A: Services include sports massage, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, cupping therapy, kinesiotaping, infrared therapy, injury assessment, rehab support and wellness packages with massage + compression boots.
Q: Do I need a referral?
A: No referral is needed for any of our massage or wellness treatments.
Q: How do I book these therapy treatments?
A: Book through our online booking system; contact by phone is also available. We recommend booking early, as slots fill quickly.
Q: What should I expect during a massage or therapy session?
A: Treatments are performed by a qualified sports therapist with VTCT Level 5 certification and a BSc in Sports & Environmental Management. You’ll undergo an assessment before receiving tailored treatment based on your needs.
Q: What are your opening hours?
A: Current regular hours include Tuesdays and Wednesdays (09:30-22:00) and Mondays (09:30-13:30). Service availability may vary week-to-week. Please check live booking for specific slots.
IV INJECTIONS & DRIPS
Q: What types of injections do you offer and why?
A: We offer a range of injectable treatments such as corticosteroids (for inflammation/pain), hyaluronic acid (joint lubrication), PRP (platelet-rich plasma for tissue regeneration), and prolotherapy (to stimulate healing). The right option depends on your condition and goals; each is effective for various musculoskeletal or soft‑tissue issues.
Q: Are injections safe?
A: These treatments are generally safe when carried out by skilled professionals. Risks include temporary pain flare (within 24–48 hours), localized tenderness or skin changes, hormonal symptoms, elevated blood sugar (in diabetics), infection, or, very rarely, joint tissue issues such as weakened tendon or bone breakdown with repeated use. Clients take precautions if pregnant, diabetic, allergic to steroids, on blood thinners, or recently vaccinated.
Q: What happens during and after an injection appointment?
A: A clinician assesses you, explains treatment options and obtains consent. A local anaesthetic may be used to minimise discomfort. You’ll be asked to stay in the clinic for 10–20 minutes afterward to monitor for any immediate reactions. Recovery instructions usually include resting the treated area for a few days and monitoring for signs of infection like redness, swelling or fever.
Q: Do I need a repeat injection or follow-up?
A: Some injections may require only a single dose; others, like PRP or hyaluronic acid, may need several sessions spaced by weeks or months. We usually schedule a follow-up at around two weeks to assess improvement and plan next steps.
Q: What should I avoid post-injection?
A: Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen) for around two weeks after a steroid injection to lower risk of stomach upset or bleeding. Rest the area and avoid high-impact activities for about a week. If you're diabetic, monitor your blood sugar closely for up to 48 hours.
Q: What is IV therapy, and how does it work?
A: IV therapy (intravenous drip or push) delivers hydration, vitamins, minerals, amino acids or NAD⁺ directly into the bloodstream for fast, efficient absorption; often up to 90-100%, versus 20-50% with oral intake. It typically takes 30-60 minutes, during which you may relax, read or catch up on work .
Q: What benefits might I expect?
A: IV drips may help with hydration, immune support, energy boost, recovery (after travel, exertion or illness), anti-ageing and skin radiance, or support specific needs like inflammation or iron deficiency. Effects can vary and are not guaranteed
Q: Do I need a consultation or blood test first?
A: Yes. A qualified practitioner will assess your medical history and wellness goals to tailor ingredients and ensure safety, sometimes with pre‑drip blood analysis, particularly for iron or vitamin C deficiency.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Most clients tolerate the process well; some mild discomfort can occur during cannula insertion, but it is brief.
Q: Is IV therapy safe?
A: When administered by trained professionals in a sterile environment, the risks are low. Possible side effects include bruising, slight infection at the needle site, or a rare infusion reaction. Over‑infusion of certain nutrients can occur if dosages aren't matched to your needs.
Q: How often can I have a drip?
A: Frequency depends on individual needs and health status. Clinic protocols often limit weekly/monthly drips; for wellness, many opt for occasional sessions rather than routine frequent use.
Q: Can I take oral supplements or exercise afterward?
A: Eating and drinking lightly before the session is fine; you can typically return to normal activity afterward. Avoid strenuous exercise for a few hours post‑treatment to allow absorption and rest.
Q: Are these treatments suitable for athletes?
A: Most wellness drips are acceptable for recreational athletes, but professional or competitive athletes should check for anti‑doping compliance; high‑volume infusions (>100 mL in 12 hours) may be restricted without medical exemption.
Q: Is IV drip therapy better than oral supplements?
A: Yes. Nutrients administered via IV bypass the digestive system and go directly into the bloodstream, giving absorption rates up to 90-100%, as opposed to 20–50% via oral administration.
